Meet Leann Smith, OK Foster Wishes Art Committee

Leann Smith, wife of AHS Staffing CEO Mark Smith, is actively involved with the OK Foster Wishes Art Contest. ”Volunteering with OK Foster Wishes – Fostering Art Contest brings me joy,” said Leann. ”We are able to bring art supplies to Oklahoma Foster Shelters and encourage kids to express their feelings through art. I love to greet them and say, “I’m so glad you came today.” Then I just listen. Each child is precious. Each child has a story.”
There are approximately 10,000 children in foster care currently in the state of Oklahoma.
2014 Fostering Art Contest
Any child in foster care in the state of Oklahoma may participate. The art will be featured during May (Foster Care Awareness Month) for the public to appreciate and vote for their favorites in each category.
We are hoping that by encouraging children to express themselves, they will be inspired to see their gifts and talents and hope for a bright future. We also hope to stir the hearts of Oklahoman’s by safely lifting the veil of confidentiality to show the personalities of our community’s precious children in foster care and cause them to consider what piece of the foster crisis they have been equip and created for.
