Brett Burleson and his wife Kelly both give back by supporting the OKC Memorial Kids Marathon. Each year over 3,000 kids, up to 6th grade, converge on downtown Oklahoma City to honor those who lost their lives in the April 19th bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah building in 1995. Kelly, who is the Race Director, says this race touches so many lives across the country. “We are honoring those we lost, those who lost family and friends and those forever changed by this tragic event. This is a part of Oklahoma history now and we educate our youth about ‘good choices’ while teaching them a healthy lifestyle,” said Kelly.
Brett and his wife work year around volunteering for the memorial marathon which will take place on April 27th this year. “It’s really rewarding to see these kids complete their marathon by running the final 1.2 miles race day,” said Brett. “And race morning is something that will change you forever. As you stand by the survivor tree with trumpets playing and people singing, it is something you will never forget.”
