Balancing Your Work and Personal Life

Balancing Your Work and Personal Life

Balancing your work and personal life, especially around the holidays, is tricky. You want to work hard and as much as you can, but also spend time with family and friends. One thing to remember is that it is important to keep your morale up by making time for your friends and family and not overworking yourself at your job. Having a healthy balance of both will not only make you a happier person, but more productive at work as well. Remember these 3 P’s and you will feel refreshed, yet productive this holiday season!

Prioritize

If there is a day at work you know will be especially busy for you, make sure you’re there on time, focused and ready to knock out your work! This will reassure your coworkers that you are putting your job high on your priority list. It will also free up other days for you to spend with your family.

Plan “You” Time

Even if it’s simply running a warm bath or enjoying your favorite meal while watching a movie, make sure you are getting time to yourself! The hustle and bustle of the holidays can be stressful for everyone. Taking care of yourself and doing the things you love and make you happy is a great way to keep your spirits up and motivate you to give it your all at your job.

Productivity

While you are at work, stay on task and get as much work done as possible! It’s easy to put things off, especially when there are a million other things on your mind. Being productive at work will only allow you to have more time to take off and spend with your family. Productivity also will boost your confidence and make you feel accomplished at the end of the day, and probably even help you sleep better!

One downfall about being in the healthcare field is sometimes it’s not possible to take off on the holidays to be with family. As sad as it can be to miss these important things, just remember that your job is so important that there are no days off! Lives need to be saved and you are making a positive impact on all of your patients’ lives by devoting your time and hard work to help them get better. With that being said, don’t forget about yourself. You can only reach your full potential at work when you are happy with yourself and working on your own goals outside of work. So next time you are stressed out about balancing all of the aspects in your life, remember; prioritize, plan “you” time and be productive!
